Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti defeated Argentine Francisco Cerundolo in straight sets to move into the final of the Hamburg Open at Am Rothenbaum on Saturday afternoon.
The 20-year-old Musetti overcame a brief hiccup late in the second set as he was broken while serving for the match at 6-3, 5-4 after holding a match point on which he hit a drop serve.
Cerundolo managed to take a 3-1 lead in the second set tie-breaker but Musetti stormed back to win six points in a row and complete the 6-3, 7-6 (3) in one hour and 54 minutes.
The Italian converted four of five break point chances that he had while he was able to save five of the eight against his serve during the contest.
