Frenchman Arthur Fils produced perhaps the best performance of his life as he upended top seed Casper Ruud 6-0, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the Hamburg Open at Am Rothenbaum on Friday evening.
Fils, ranked No 71, will face German Alexander Zverev, the No 4 seed, next.

Earlier in the tournament, the 19-year-old Frenchman beat Colombian lucky loser Daniel Elahi Galan (7-5, 7-5) and Serb Dusan Lajovic (7-5, 7-5).
Ruud, ranked No 4, won against Argentinian Sebastian Baez (6-3, 1-6, 6-3) and Chilean qualifier Cristian Garin (1-6, 6-2, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Hamburg tournament.
