Hamburg Open: Fils beats Baez to reach first ATP 500 final

The 20-year-old Frenchman will play German Alexander Zverev, for the title on Sunday

Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 5 seed, defeated Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 3 seed, 6-2, 6-2 in one hour and six minutes to move into the final of the Hamburg Open at the Rothenbaum Tennis Center on Saturday.

Fils, ranked No 28 in the world, will face local favourite Alexander Zverev, the top seed, in the final.

Ahead of his win today, the 20-year-old Frenchman defeated Spaniard Jaume Munar (5-7, 6-3, 6-1), Serb Laslo Djere (7-6 (3), 6-2) and Dane Holger Rune, the second seed (6-4, 4-1 ret.).

Baez, ranked No 19, beat German Dominik Koepfer (6-2, 6-3), Serb Dusan Lajovic (4-6, 7-5, 6-2) and Italian Luciano Darderi, the No 7 seed (2-6, 6-4, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Hamburg tournament.
