Zverev too good for Shapovalov in Halle

German Alexander Zverev, the No 9 seed, beat Canadian Denis Shapovalov 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals of Halle at the Owl Arena/Gerry-Weber-Stadion on Wednesday evening.
Zverev, ranked No 22, will face Chilean Nicolas Jarry next.
Ahead of his victory, the German beat Austrian wildcard Dominic Thiem (6-3, 6-4).
Shapovalov, ranked No 27, won against South African Lloyd Harris (7-6 (1), 6-4) in the previous round of the Halle Open.
