Halle: World No 1 Medvedev through to second round

World No 1 Daniil Medvedev scored a straight sets win over Belgian David Goffin to reach the second round of Halle at the Owl Arena/Gerry-Weber-Stadion on Wednesday.
Medvedev won 6-3, 6-2 in one hour and four minutes for his third win in four career meetings against Goffin.
The Russian, who learnt that he would be able to defend his US Open title later this year but is still ruled out of playing at Wimbledon, next meets Belarusian Ilya Ivashka.
