American Christopher Eubanks advanced to the quarter-finals of the Halle Open by winning against Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the No 7 seed, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-3 at the Owl Arena/Gerry-Weber-Stadion on Wednesday afternoon.
Eubanks, ranked No 44, will face the winner of the match between Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, and Chinese Zhizhen Zhang next.
Ahead of his victory, the American defeated Spaniard Pedro Martinez (6-3, 6-4).
Bublik, ranked No 17, beat Australian qualifier Max Purcell (7-6 (1), 6-4) in the previous round of the Halle tournament.
