Halle: Medvedev moves into second round, first win on grass this year

Russian Daniil Medvedev, the top seed, reached the second round of Halle by beating American qualifier Marcos Giron 6-4, 6-3 at the Owl Arena/Gerry-Weber-Stadion on Monday evening.

It is his first win on grass this swing after losing in the first round of Den Bosch to Adrian Mannarino.

It is also his first match win since lifting the trophy in Rome last month, having also lost in the first round of Roland-Garros to Thiago Seyboth Wild.
