Halle: Top seed Medvedev battles into quarter-finals

Russian Daniil Medvedev, the top seed, beat Serb Laslo Djere 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-3 to reach the last eight of Halle at the Owl Arena/Gerry-Weber-Stadion on Wednesday.
Medvedev, ranked No 3, will play Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, the No 8 seed, next.
The Russian won against American qualifier Marcos Giron (6-4, 6-3) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the Halle Open, Djere, ranked No 65, won against German wildcard Oscar Otte (7-6 (3), 6-3).
