Kazakh Alexander Bublik advanced to the quarter-finals of Halle by winning against German Jan-Lennard Struff 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-3 at the Owl Arena/Gerry-Weber-Stadion on Thursday.
Bublik, ranked No 48, will face No 4 seed Jannik Sinner next.
The Kazakh beat Croat Borna Coric, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-1) in the previous round of the Halle Open.
In the first round of the Halle Open, Struff, ranked No 21, won against Russian qualifier Roman Safiullin (6-1, 7-6 (4)).
