Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, the No 7 seed, moved into the second round of the Hall of Fame Open by winning against Japanese Shintaro Mochizuki 6-3, 7-6 (5) at the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum in Newport.
Rinderknech, ranked No 66, will face American Aleksandar Kovacevic next.
