Opelka continues comeback run in Newport, sets blockbuster against Michelsen

Wildcard Reilly Opelka advanced to the semi-finals of the Hall of Fame Open by edging out Mackenzie McDonald 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum in Newport on Thursday evening.
With the win, Opelka becomes the lowest ranked player in history to make an ATP-level semi-final. He is currently ranked No 1187 in the world.
Reilly Opelka will face No 3 seed Alex Michelsen next.
Reilly Opelka edged out Frenchman Constant Lestienne (6-1, 2-6, 7-6 (2)) and Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the top seed (6-4, 3-6, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Newport tournament, McDonald, ranked No 99, beat Australian Rinky Hijikata, the No 8 seed (4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2) and qualifier Billy Harris (6-3, 6-4).
