Hall of Fame Open: World No 190 Michelsen makes semi-finals, takes out fourth seed McDonald

Alex Michelsen won against No 4 seed Mackenzie McDonald 6-3, 6-3 to reach the semi-finals of the Hall of Fame Open at the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum in Newport on Friday evening.
Michelsen, ranked No 190, will play the winner of the match between top seed Tommy Paul and John Isner next.

The 18-year-old needed only one hour and 11 minutes to complete the quarter-final, and said afterwards: “I served really well, first-serve percentage was probably pretty high.
“The serve was key today and I didn’t miss too many groundstrokes either, so that was nice.”
Michelsen edged out No 5 seed Maxime Cressy (6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-5) and defeated Australian James Duckworth (4-6, 6-3, 6-0) in the previous rounds of the Newport tournament.
In the previous round of the Newport tournament, McDonald, ranked No 59, beat Australian qualifier Li Tu (6-4, 7-6 (5)).
