Geneva Open: Opelka moves into semis
Reilly Opelka beat Tallon Griekspoor 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 on Thursday and he’ll face the winner of the next match between Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis and Norwegian Casper Ruud
American Reilly Opelka, the No 4 seed, moved into the semi-finals of the Geneva Open by winning against Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at Tennis Club de Genève, Parc des Eaux-Vives on Thursday.
Opelka, ranked No 18, will face the winner of the next match between Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the second seed.
The American beat Australian qualifier Christopher O’Connell (6-3, 7-5) in the previous round.
In the previous rounds, Griekspoor, ranked No 64, edged out American Tommy Paul, the No 6 seed (7-5, 6-7 [3], 6-4) and won against Swiss qualifier Johan Nikles (6-3, 7-5).
