Giron takes down top seed Tiafoe in Dallas quarter-finals

Marcos Giron advanced to the last four of the Dallas Open by winning against top seed Frances Tiafoe 6-1, 6-4 at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Saturday night.

Giron, ranked No 67, will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 4 seed, and Australian James Duckworth next.

In the previous rounds of the Dallas tournament, Marcos Giron defeated qualifier Nicolas Moreno De Alboran (6-1, 6-4) and Australian Max Purcell, the No 6 seed (6-4, 6-3).

Tiafoe, ranked No 14, beat Alex Michelsen (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Dallas tournament.
