Gijon Open: Ivashka books spot in second round, defeating 41-year old Lopez

Belarusian Ilya Ivashka moved into the second round of the Gijon Open by edging out Spanish wildcard Feliciano López 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-4 at the Palacio deportes on Tuesday evening.

Ivashka, ranked No 70, will play top seed Andrey Rublev next.

Lopez, now aged 41 and ranked No 415, won one match on the Tour in 2022 in 15 events, one challenger and 14 on the ATP Tour.
