Chinese Yibing Wu defeated Italian Marco Cecchinato 7-6 (5), 6-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the Geneva Open at Tennis Club de Genève, Parc des Eaux-Vives on Tuesday evening.
Wu, ranked No 59, will play German Alexander Zverev, the No 3 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Chinese edged out Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler (6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (6)).
Cecchinato, ranked No 73, won against American Ben Shelton, the No 5 seed (7-5, 2-6, 6-2) in the previous round of the Geneva tournament.
