Geneva Open: Shevchenko into quarter-finals

Kazakh Alexander Shevchenko reached the quarter-finals of the Geneva Open after Finn Emil Ruusuvuori withdrew before the match at Tennis Club de Genève, Parc des Eaux-Vives on Tuesday evening.

Shevchenko, ranked No 61, will face the winner of the match between Italian Flavio Cobolli and American Ben Shelton, the No 4 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Geneva tournament, the Kazakh defeated Hungarian Fabian Marozsan, the No 7 seed (6-4, 7-6 (4)).

Ruusuvuori, ranked No 66, won against American Marcos Giron (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round of the Geneva tournament.
