Geneva Open: Fritz eases past Ivashka to reach semi-finals
The American will play the winner of the match between Australian Christopher O’Connell and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 4 seed, in the next round
American Taylor Fritz, the second seed, reached the last four of the Geneva Open by beating Belarusian Ilya Ivashka 6-1, 6-2 at Tennis Club de Genève, Parc des Eaux-Vives on Thursday afternoon.
Fritz, ranked No 9, will face the winner of the match between Australian Christopher O’Connell and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 4 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Geneva tournament, the American had defeated Marcos Giron (4-6, 6-2, 6-3).
Ivashka, ranked No 86, won against Argentine Guido Pella (6-4, 7-5) and Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 8 seed (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) earlier in the week
