Austrian Dominic Thiem defeated Russian lucky loser Alexander Shevchenko 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the second round of the Generali Open at Kitzbühel Tennis Club on Tuesday evening. Thiem, ranked No 199, will face Austrian qualifier Sebastian Ofner next.
