Generali Open: First semi-final of the year for Thiem

Austrian wild card Dominic Thiem reached the semi-finals of the Generali Open by edging out Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at Kitzbühel Tennis Club in Kitzbuhel on Thursday evening.
Thiem, ranked No 116, will face Serb Laslo Djere, the No 5 seed, next, in his first semi-final at tour level since Antwerp in 2022.

Ahead of his victory, the Austrian beat Argentinian qualifier Facundo Bagnis (7-6 (3), 7-6 (6)) and Chinese Zhizhen Zhang (1-6, 6-3, 6-2).
Rinderknech, ranked No 67, won against Argentinian lucky loser Juan Manuel Cerundolo (6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-2) and German Yannick Hanfmann, the second seed (7-6 (3), 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Kitzbuhel tournament.
