Yannick Hanfmann edged out Ivan Gakhov 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-4 on Wednesday afternoon and will face the winner of the match between qualifier Sebastian Ofner and Dominic Thiem in the next round

German Yannick Hanfmann moved into the quarter-finals of the Generali Open by edging out Russian lucky loser Ivan Gakhov 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-4 at Kitzbühel Tennis Club on Wednesday.
Hanfmann, ranked No 140, will face the winner of the match between qualifier Sebastian Ofner and Dominic Thiem next.
The German benefited from the abandonment of Austrian qualifier Gerald Melzer (6-4, 1-1) ahead of his victory.
