Florence Open: Karatsev makes second round

Russian Aslan Karatsev, the No 5 seed, advanced to the second round of the Florence Open when Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor retired at the Palazzo Wanny on Monday.
Karatsev, ranked No 39, led 6-3, 2-1 when Griekspoor, ranked No 54, pulled out.
The Russian will face the winner of the match between Dutch qualifier Tim van Rijthoven and Swede qualifier Mikael Ymer next.
Karatsev is ending a serie of five defeats on the Tour.
