Alexander Bublik defeated Cristian Garin 7-5, 6-2 on Tuesday. He’ll play Frenchman Corentin Moutet in the next round
Alexander Bublik, the No 7 seed, advanced to the second round of the Florence Open by defeating Chile’s Cristian Garin 7-5, 6-2 at the Palazzo Wanny on Tuesday.
The win was Bublik’s 100th win on the ATP Tour in his career, marking a milestone for the 25-year-old Kazakh who is ranked No 43 in the world.
“I played a good match, I stayed solid, I served well,” Bublik said as quoted by the ATP Tour website. “The conditions fit me well, the court is quite fast, so I’m pleased with my game and let’s see what goes on after.”
Bublik has won more indoor matches on tour this year than any other player
The win also marked Bubliks’ 14th win indoors in 2022 on the tour – the most by any player so far this season. The Kazakh will aim to make it 15 when he takes on Frenchman Corentin Moutet for a spot in the quarter-finals.
The Frenchman had beaten qualifier Flavio Cobolli in three tight sets in another first round contest.
