Florence Open: Auger-Aliassime moves into final, beating ailing Musetti
Felix Auger-Aliassime beat Lorenzo Musetti 6-2, 6-3 on Saturday evening and will face American J.J. Wolf in the final
Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the top seed, won against Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 3 seed, 6-2, 6-3 to reach the final of the Florence Open at the Palazzo Wanny on Saturday evening.
Musetti needed a medical time-out at 5-2 down in the first set due to an apparent abdominal injury.
Auger-Aliassime, ranked No 13, will face American J.J. Wolf next. The American beat qualifier Mikael Ymer 6-4, 6-4 earlier.
The 22-year-old Canadian defeated German Oscar Otte (6-4, 6-7 (2), 6-2) and American Brandon Nakashima, the No 8 seed (6-3, 6-4) ahead of his victory, to reach his third final on the ATP Tour in 2022. He won Rotterdam and lost in Marseille (against Rublev) last February.
In the previous rounds of the Florence Open, Musetti, ranked No 28, won against Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles (6-3, 6-0) and American Mackenzie McDonald (6-3, 6-2).
