Federer feeling the groove on court in latest Instagram video
The Swiss legend is scheduled to return to tennis at next month’s Laver Cup in London
There’s some good news for fans of 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer as the Swiss posted a video of himself from the tennis courts on his Instagram account on Sunday.
The 41-year-old Federer has not played since losing in the quarter-finals of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships to Hubert Hurkacz, after which he underwent another knee surgery.
The Swiss is expected to make his return to the tennis courts at the Laver Cup in London next month and then compete at the Swiss Indoors in Basel in October.
In the video, Federer is seen playing a few groundstrokes accompanied by the song “Feel the Groove” by Trapaholics.
This is just the second time that Federer has been filmed on a tennis court since his surgery last year. The first was for a Barilla commercial last month. That ad has since been viewed more than 17.5 million times on Instagram and became a big hit for the pasta company.
Federer will return to the tour without a ranking, having not played any tournament since June 2021. He can use his protected ranking to enter tournaments but will not be seeded based on that ranking and can also use wild cards to enter any tournament.
