“Excited to finish the year on a high” – Alcaraz to compete in Paris, Turin
Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed he will compete at the Rolex Paris Masters and Nitto ATP Finals, following his withdrawal from the Swiss Indoors Basel due to injury
With Carlos Alcaraz suffering several uncharacteristic losses post-US Open and most recently withdrawing from the Swiss Indoors Basel ATP 500, some were concerned that his season would stutter to an anti-climactic close in the same way it did last year.
In 2022, Alcaraz was forced to withdraw from the Nitto ATP Finals (and also the subsequent Australian Open) due to injury.
This year, however, it looks as though there will be no repeat according to the latest Carlos Alcaraz injury update, with the Spaniard reporting he is healthy and good to go for the remainder of the season.
Alcaraz fit for Paris and Turin
Alcaraz’s withdrawal from the ATP 500 in Basel was due to a left foot injury and muscle fatigue in his lower back.
According to recent posts by the 20-year-old on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, Alcaraz is “feeling better every day” and “excited to finish the year on a high.” The world No 2 also confirmed that he would compete at the upcoming Masters 1000 event in Paris, as well as the Nitto ATP Finals which he has already qualified for.
This news comes as a boost for Alcaraz’s chances of ending the year No 1 as well, with just 500 points separating him and Novak Djokovic in the singles race currently.
