European Open: Lehecka reaches second round
Jiri Lehecka defeated Jaume Munar in straight sets on Tuesday after wasting five match points
No 5 seed Jiri Lehecka won against Spaniard Jaume Munar 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the second round of the European Open at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp on Tuesday.
Lehecka smashed six aces and 26 winners against Munar’s one and five, respectively, to complete the win in less than 90 minutes.
Interestingly, Munar saved five match points in the concluding game before committing a double fault on the sixth to give the Czech the victory.
Lehecka, ranked No 33, will face the winner of the match between Belgian qualifier Gilles Arnaud Bailly and German Daniel Altmaier next.
