Chilean Cristian Garin defeated Portuguese Nuno Borges 6-2, 7-6 (3) to reach the semi-finals of the Estoril Open at Clube de Ténis do Estoril on Friday.
Garin, ranked No 112, will face Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the second seed, next.
The Chilean won against Austrian Jurij Rodionov (7-6 (3), 7-5) and edged out Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 5 seed (2-6, 6-4, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Estoril tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Borges, ranked No 62, beat French qualifier Lucas Pouille (0-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3) and Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 3 seed (7-6 (4), 6-3).
