Swiss qualifier Marc-Andrea Huesler beat wildcard Ryan Peniston 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the second round of the Eastbourne Open at the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club.
Huesler, ranked No 83, will play No 4 seed Francisco Cerundolo next.
