Dutch Open: Second seed Sinner upended by Ruusuvuori in quarter-finals
Emil Ruusuvuori beat Jannik Sinner 6-3, 6-4 on Friday evening and will face Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 6 seed, in the next round
Finn Emil Ruusuvuori reached the last semi-finals of the Dutch Open with a surprise victory over Italian Jannik Sinner, the second seed, 6-3, 6-4 at the Autotron Rosmalen in s-Hertogenbosch on Friday evening.
Ruusuvuori, ranked No 42, will play Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 6 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Finn won against American Brandon Nakashima (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) and edged out Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 7 seed (6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-4).
Sinner, ranked No 9, beat Kazakh Alexander Bublik (6-4, 6-2) in the previous round of the’s-Hertogenbosch tournament.
