No 3 seed Daniil Medvedev lifted the Dubai Open trophy by defeating second seed Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-2 at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Saturday.
Medvedev, ranked No 7, beat Italian lucky loser Matteo Arnaldi (6-4, 6-2), Kazakh Alexander Bublik (6-4, 6-2), Croat Borna Coric, the No 8 seed (6-3, 6-2) and Serb Novak Djokovic, the top seed (6-4, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Dubai tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Rublev, ranked No 6, defeated Serb Filip Krajinovic (7-5, 6-2), Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (1-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (3)), Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (6-3, 7-6 (3)) and German Alexander Zverev, the No 7 seed (6-3, 7-6 (9)).
