Dubai Open: Medvedev sets up Djokovic blockbuster in semi-finals scoring 21 points in a row against Coric!!
The Russian took his win streak to 12 matches with a confident win over Borna Coric
Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, beat Croat Borna Coric, the No 8 seed, 6-3, 6-2 to move into the last four of the Dubai Open at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Thursday evening.
Coric led by a break at 2-1 in the second set but Medvedev reeled off the last 21 consecutive points to seal victory and set up a clash with world No 1 Novak Djokovic in the semis.
Medvedev’s win was his 12th in a row, having won the title in both Rotterdam and Doha in the past two weeks.
The Russian won against Italian lucky loser Matteo Arnaldi (6-4, 6-2) and Kazakh Alexander Bublik (6-4, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Dubai tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Coric, ranked No 20, benefited from the abandonment of Daniel Evans (2-2) and edged out Australian wildcard Thanasi Kokkinakis (6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-5).
