Hurkacz pushed to limit by lucky loser Shevchenko, but advances to Dubai second round
Hubert Hurkacz edged out Alexander Shevchenko 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7) on Tuesday and will play Russian qualifier Pavel Kotov in the next round

Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 5 seed, advanced to the second round of the Dubai Open by edging out Russian lucky loser Alexander Shevchenko 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7) at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Tuesday.
Hurkacz, ranked No 11, will face Russian qualifier Pavel Kotov next.
Hurkacz arrives in Dubai for the fifth consecutive year fresh from a title in Marseille.
