Dubai Open: Humbert beats Monfils to avenge Doha loss

No 5 seed Ugo Humbert moved into the second round of the Dubai Open by beating wildcard Gael Monfils 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Tuesday.

Monfils has just beaten Humbert last week in the Dona quarter-finals in straight sets but Humbert avenged that loss to improve to 3-1 in their career head-to-head.

Humbert, ranked No 18 in the world and the current French No 1, will face former world No 1 Andy Murray next.
