Djokovic withdraws from Toronto, cites fatigue
Fatigue has caused Novak Djokovic to announce his withdrawal from the upcoming Masters 1000 in Toronto in August
There will be no Novak Djokovic at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers in Toronto this year, with the four-time champion withdrawing due to fatigue a fortnight ahead of the event.
“I have always enjoyed my time in Canada, but after speaking with my team, we believe this is the right decision to take,” said Djokovic in a statement that was released today by Tennis Canada.
“I would like to thank Karl Hale, the Tournament Director, for understanding this decision. I really hope I can return to Canada and Toronto in the coming years to play in front of great fans there.”
Djokovic recently lost the final of Wimbledon 2023 to Carlos Alcaraz, and is preparing to play the US Open for the first time since 2021.
