Former world No 1 Novak Djokovic will begin his 2025 campaign in the first week of the season at the Brisbane International.

This will be the first tournament for Djokovic, currently ranked No 7 in the world, with Andy Murray as his coach.

Djokovic, who will be aiming to win his milestone100th career ATP singles title, is playing in Brisbane for only the second time in his career. In his only previous appearance in the tournament in 2009, he lost to Ernests Gulbis in his opening match.

“I’m excited to be kicking off my Australian swing at the Brisbane International and to compete again at Pat Rafter Arena,” Djokovic said in a statement released. “I am looking forward to experiencing the incredible support from the Australian fans and making this tournament one to remember.”

Brisbane will be Djokovic’s first tournament since the Shanghai Masters in October. The Serb will be gunning for his record-extending 11th Australian Open and 25th Grand Slam title at Melbourne Park in January.

Other players who are in the field include 2023 Brisbane champion Grigor Dimitrov, 2024 runner-up Holger Rune, American Frances Tiafoe and home favourite Nick Kyrgios, who is set to play his first tournament June 2023 due to injury.

Australians Alexei Popyrin and Jordan Thompson, American Sebastian Korda, Italy’s Matteo Berrettini and France’s Gael Monfils are also confirmed to play the event.
