Norrie tops Korda, semis set at Delray Beach
The semis are set at the Delray Beach Open and top-seeded Cameron Norrie is leading the pack.
Cameron Norrie escaped with a three-set victory over American Sebastian Korda (6-2, 1-6, 7-6), the top seed taking his place in the Delray Beach Open semi-finals for the second consecutive year and avenging a straight-sets loss at the hands of the American last year.
The British No 1 rallied from a break down, breaking as Korda served for the match at 5-4 in the third set, then took the third-set tiebreak.
Norrie, seeded 1 and ranked 13, reaches his first ATP semi-final of 2021 and will face American Tommy Paul for a spot in the final.
Paul ripped past compatriot Stefan Kozlov, 6-3, 6-1, to reach his first semi-final on tour since he won his maiden ATP Tour title last autumn at Stockholm.
Third-Seeded Dimitrov toppled by Millman
The lower half semi-final will feature Australia’s John Millman as the lone unseeded participant. The 32-year-old won for the first time against Dimitrov in three tries, 6-4, 6-4, and snapped a seven-match losing streak in ATP quarter-finals in the process.
Dimitrov drops to 4-3 in 2022 with the loss.
Millman will take on last week’s Dallas champion Reilly Opelka. Opelka edged France’s Adrian Mannarino for his sixth consecutive triumph, 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-1. The 2020 Delray Beach champion has won seven in a row at the event he skipped in 2021 due to injury.
