Former champ Albot upsets Paul at Delray Beach

2019 champion Radu Albot defeated American Tommy Paul, the No 2 seed, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the last four of the Delray Beach Open on Friday night.
Albot, ranked No 113, will face Serb Miomir Kecmanovic, the No 4 seed, next. He is into an ATP semi-final for the first time since 2021 at Singapore.
33-year-old Albot, a former world No 39 earns his seventh career top 20 win, and his first since the 2021 Australian Open.
He dominated the 25-year-old American from start to finish, saving both break points he faced and converting four of six of his own to improve to 4-2 on the season.
Paul, who reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open and made his top 20 debut on January 30, drops to 8-3 on the season.
Earlier in the tournament, Radu Albot won against Spanish wildcard Fernando Verdasco (7-6 (3), 7-6 (1)) and Australian lucky loser Aleksandar Vukic (6-4, 6-4).
Paul, ranked No 18, beat Denis Kudla (6-3, 6-4) in the previous round of the Delray Beach tournament.
