Australian Alex de Minaur, the No 6 seed, reached the last 16 of the Rothesay International Eastbourne by winning against Chilean Cristian Garin 6-3, 6-3 on Monday.
De Minaur, ranked No 24, will face the winner of the match between Italian Lorenzo Sonego and Australian qualifier James Duckworth next.
The Australian is the defending champion in Eastbourne having beaten Sonego in last year’s final, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5).
