Darderi upsets Cerundolo in Houston

Italian Luciano Darderi edged out Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the second seed, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (4) to reach the last eight of the Houston Open at River Oaks Country Club on Wednesday evening.
Darderi, ranked No 72, will play the winner of the match between No 7 seed Marcos Giron and J.J. Wolf next.
Ahead of his victory, the 22-year-old Italian won against American wildcard Denis Kudla (3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2).
