The city of Dallas will stage an ATP event in 2022, according to the Dallas Business Journal. This will mark the first time since 1989 that a main tour event will be held in the city since the World Championships Tennis Final in 1989.
The tournament is scheduled to be held in early February and will take the place of the New York Open on the ATP calendar.
The event will be part of the ATP 250 series and will be held at the Stryslinger/Altec complex at Southern Methodist University, making it the only indoor event in the United States at the ATP tour level.
In the past, tennis greats such as Bjorn Borg, Arthur Ashe, Jimmy Connors, Guillermo Vilas, Setfan Edberg, Boris Becker, Stan Smith, Ivan Lendl, Ken Rosewall, and John McEnroe have competed in Dallas.
