Australian Jordan Thompson, the No 7 seed, reached the last 8 of the Dallas Open by winning against American lucky loser Denis Kudla 6-1, 6-1 at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.
Thompson, ranked No 44, will play No 3 seed Ben Shelton next.
Ahead of his victory, the Australian defeated American wildcard Adam Neff (6-3, 6-1).
Kudla, ranked No 174, beat Radu Albot (6-3, 7-6 (3)) in the previous round of the Dallas tournament.
