Munar battles past Arnaldi, into last four at Dallas Open
Jaume Munar got the best of Matteo Arnaldi in three sets on Friday afternoon in Dallas and will face the winner of the match between Casper Ruud and Yoshihito Nishioka.
Jaume Munar reached the last four of the Dallas Open by beating Italian Matteo Arnaldi, the No 8 seed, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at the Ford Center at The Star on Friday evening.
The event represents his first ATP 500 semi-final.
Munar, ranked No 64, will face the winner of the match between Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the second seed.
In the previous rounds of the Dallas tournament, the Spaniard knocked off China’s Bu Yunchaokete (7-5, 6-2) and American Ben Shelton, the No 4 seed (6-2, 7-6 (3)).
Arnaldi, ranked No 39, defeated American qualifier Christopher Eubanks (6-3, 6-4) and Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (6-1, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
