Dallas: Tommy Paul hits shot of the year candidate against Brooksby

No 3 seed Tommy Paul moved into the second round of the Dallas Open by edging out wildcard Jenson Brooksby 6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-4 at the Ford Center at The Star on Tuesday evening.

The match was hard-fought and played with the thinnest of margins.

Paul’s shotmaking? It was second to none. Watch exhibit A below:

After the match, Paul admitted that he had a two percent chance of landing the phenomenal no-look over-the-shoulder winner.

“I definitely don’t have that shot,” Paul told ATPTour.com, cracking a laugh. “I guess today I did, but that’s probably a one out of fifty kinda shot.”

It’s not the first time the American has had his name be synonymous with the term “shot of the year”. Check out this beauty from 2003.

Paul, ranked No 9, will face qualifier Ethan Quinn next.
