Austrian Dominic Thiem beat Argentinian qualifier Facundo Bagnis 6-4, 7-5 to move into the second round of the Croatia Open at the ITC Stella Maris in Umag.
Thiem, ranked No 112, will play top seed Jiri Lehecka next.
