Croatia Open: Carballes Baena reaches last 8

Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena reached the quarter-finals of the Croatia Open by beating Slovak Alex Molcan, the No 5 seed, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 at the ITC Stella Maris in Umag on Wednesday.

Carballes Baena, ranked No 86, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Jaume Munar and Italian Jannik Sinner, the second seed, next.

In the previous round of the Umag, the Spaniard won against Swiss Henri Laaksonen (6-4, 7-5).

Molcan, ranked No 38, defeated Croat wildcard Duje Ajdukovic (6-2, 7-6 (2)) during the first round of the Umag.
