Cordoba Open: Bagnis advances to second ATP final
Facundo Bagnis is into the Cordoba final with a straight-set victory over Federico Coria on Saturday. Bagnis will go up against either Sebastian Baez over Luciano Darderi.
Qualifier Facundo Bagnis continued his Cordoba Open run by beating Federico Coria 6-3, 7-5 in the semi-finals at the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes on Saturday evening.
Bagnis, ranked No 207, will battle the winner of the match between No 2 seed Sebastian Baez and Italian qualifier Luciano Darderi for the title.
It is Bagnis’ second appearance in an ATP final. He previously finished runner-up on the red clay of Santiago in February 2021.
Earlier in the tournament Bagnis got the best of wild card Juan Manuel Cerundolo (6-4, 6-2), Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena, the No 8 seed (7-6 (5), 6-4) and Spaniard Jaume Munar (7-5, 6-4).
Coria, ranked No 93, advanced to the last four by defeating German Daniel Altmaier, the No 5 seed (5-7, 6-3, 6-4), Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas (6-1, 6-3) and No 3 seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry (6-3, 6-4).
