Citi Open: M. Ymer books spot in last eight, beating Ruusuvuori
Mikael Ymer edged out Emil Ruusuvuori 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-4 on Thursday and will face the winner of the match between Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 5 seed, and American Sebastian Korda in the next round
Swede Mikael Ymer reached the quarter-finals of the Citi Open by edging out Finn Emil Ruusuvuori 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-4 at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Thursday.
Ymer, ranked No 115, will play the winner of the match between Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 5 seed, and American Sebastian Korda next.
The Swede won against Andy Murray (7-6 (8), 4-6, 6-1) and edged out Russian Aslan Karatsev, the No 15 seed (6-4, 3-6, 6-4) ahead of his victory.
Ruusuvuori, ranked No 46, edged out American Mackenzie McDonald (1-6, 6-4, 6-4) and Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the second seed (6-4, 7-6 (3)).
