Australian Jordan Thompson moved into the last 16 of the Citi Open by winning against Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 7 seed, (7-5, 6-4) at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Wednesday evening.
Thompson, ranked No 71, will face American Christopher Eubanks, the No 11 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Washington D.C. tournament, the Australian defeated South African wildcard Kevin Anderson (6-4, 6-7 (1), 6-1).
