Citi Open: Shevchenko defeats home favourite Cressy to make second round
Alexander Shevchenko defeated Maxime Cressy 6-3, 7-6 (8) on Monday evening and will play No 8 seed Sebastian Korda in the next round

Russian Alexander Shevchenko beat American Maxime Cressy 6-3, 7-6 (8) to reach the second round of the Citi Open at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Monday evening.
Shevchenko, ranked No 93, played tight, error-free tennis to win the two set encounter, despite the second set tiebreak going to 10-8.
Next up, the Russian will play another American in No 8 seed Sebastian Korda.
